It was a beautiful day out in Metairie for Thursday's Saints training camp practice, but the same wasn't true for the passing game.

The first passing play in team drills was tipped by Patrick Robinson and fell into Demario Davis' hands for an interception. The defense racked up at least four more PBUs and near interceptions by Zack Baun and C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

"Not a stellar practice for the offense. But is it because our defense is that good? You know, you don't know. We've got to wait and see," Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert said after practice.

Taysom Hill hit Marquez Callaway on nice backshoulder and comeback throws as the offense started clicking better late in the practice. Jameis Winston logged nice passes to tight end Adam Trautman running a corner route, and another to Lil’Jordan Humphrey that went down as a drop.

The biggest play of the day came from Trevor Siemian, who hit Tommylee Lewis for a long touchdown over newly signed Adonis Alexander. Ian Book then hit Kawaan Baker on a fade down the left sideline.

"In theory you want it to be a 50/50 deal, where the offense is not just smoking the defense and the defense isn't crushing the offense," Hebert said. "But a big advantage, I thought, to the defense today."

But the final play of the day closed things in the way you'd expect. Jake Lampman grabbed a pass breaking to the middle of the field, and cornerback Prince Amukamara punched it out for a fumble.
