Few storylines this offseason will be more impactful than the potential discipline for Alvin Kamara stemming from a Las Vegas nightclub altercation, but he'll get to have his say first.

Kamara is expected to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in person sometimes over the next several days to tell his side of the story, according to a report from NOLA.com's Jeff Duncan.

The meeting was encouraged by Saints officials with the hopes that any discipline from the incident that occurred on the eve of the 2021 Pro Bowl could potentially be lessened. Kamara pleaded no-contest to a misdemeanor charge earlier this offseason, avoiding a felony that could've carried far more significant consequences.

With the criminal case wrapped up, discipline relative to the league's personal conduct policy would be expected to come in the not-so-distant future. The league's policy clearly states that criminal charges are not necessary to prompt a suspension, and the team appeared to be bracing for that possibility in signing veteran Jamaal Williams this offseason, then drafting TCU standout Kendre Miller in the third round of the draft.

According to Duncan's report, Kamara indicated such a meeting would be expected to happen prior to Aug. 2. The Saints kicked off training camp on July 26 with Kamara in attendance, though he has not yet spoken publicly. The Saints kick off their regular season against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 10.
