The New Orleans Saints face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tonight on Monday Night Football. The Saints need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, but what exactly do they need to do to win?
According to WWL SportsTalk co-host Mike Detillier, the answer is simple.
"Don't turn the ball over," Detillier said to WWL's Tommy Tucker.
Detillier says Mark Ingram's fumble near the goal line and two late interceptions thrown by Jameis Winston were the difference in the Bucs' 20-10 victory over the Saints in Week 2. Detillier says holding on to the ball and harassing Tom Brady are the keys to the Saints' winning.
"When he's frustrated, you can tell the entire offense feels it--feels it from him," Detillier said.
On top of that, Detillier says the Saints need to find their offensive rhythm early.
"You gotta have a semblance of a running game even though the Bucs are pretty good against the run," Detillier said, adding that the Saints ground game could open up opportunities for deep passes.
"I gotta throw a couple of deep passes downfield," Detillier said. "Antoine Winfield has been hurt. He's their All-Pro safety. I gotta test the deep part of the field and try to hit me some big plays.
"Twelve, thirteen play drives: that's not going to work well against this defense. I gotta throw the ball deep, but it starts with having a semblance of a running game and winning in the trenches."
