Alvin Kamara’s words drew the attention of the team and the headlines when he stook up in the locker room to implore his team to “get back to its swagger” after a tough loss in Arizona. But he didn't just talk, he backed it up, too. See more on WWL and Audacy.
But it wasn't just the sentiment that helped key the Saints' get-right shutout against the Raiders. He backed it up, too.
"It's one thing for me to go out there and say something, but it's another for me to go out there and back it up," said WWL's Deuce McAllister on SportsTalk this week. "I mean, because now, I can't ask guys to go out and raise their level of play. If I'm not going to go out and raise my level of play."

In the Saints' past two victories (Seahawks and Raiders), Kamara has totaled 165 rushing yards, 187 receiving yards and three touchdowns. All three of those scores came in Week 8 after he was held out of the end zone for the first seven weeks.
In his other four games this season (1-3), Kamara has totaled: 248 rushing yards, 100 receiving yards and zero TDs.
Kamara's traditionally been a lead-by-example player rather than a lead-by-speaking player to this point in his career. He's got to be both types of leaders now.
"A lot of people will go and say, 'Well, isn't that the job of the head coach?' That's not the job of a head coach, right. That's the job of the leaders on that team," McAllister continued. "I mean, because I'm gonna respect the coach. But let's be honest, you can only respect the coach so much, the coach ain't going out there and making those throws. He's not going out there making no tackles. I mean, it's the players that's theirs going across that white line. Those are the guys you're gonna have the respect from."
The Saints sit at 3-5 but just a .5-game out of the NFC South lead. Their next chance to pick up ground will come against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.
