The New Orleans Saints have wasted no time: Two games, two wins, two 40-plus-point offensive explosions — the second of which came against the vaunted Dallas Cowboys. Just how you draw it up.
No one is more thrilled about that fact than the Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert, who took some well-deserved victory laps during his postgame rant.
“All I can say is who dat say they gon’ beat them Saints?” Hebert said. "For sure as hell ain’t Dallas. ... It doesn't get any better.”

For the second straight game the Saints were well in control before the opposing team could get into their rhythm, ultimately scoring touchdowns on their first six offensive possessions and sprinting out to a 35-16 halftime lead that turned into a 44-19 final score. The Saints again dominated on the ground and rendered the vaunted Cowboys pass rush inert. That group logged a sack (that was really just a QB scramble just shy of the line of scrimmage) and one QB hit after rolling up 17 QB hits and 6 sacks during a win over the Browns in Week 1.
Kamara finished the day with 180 total yards (115 rushing and 85 receiving), to go with three rushing touchdowns and a 57-yard receiving TD on a middle screen. QB Derek Carr, who has quickly won over fans to start the year, only needed 16 pass attempts (11 completions) to roll up 243 yards and 2 TDs. He plowed in another from 1 yard out on the ground and broke out a Michael Jackson dance move in the end zone. Everything, and I mean everything, was working.
“Alvin Kamara is a young 29. If they block for him he knows what to do. If you have the right coordinator put Derek Carr in a winning position he will have success and we’re gonna keep people off-balance, Hebert continued. "So all you haters out there, now y’all need to show a little love. Now, I know it’s a short season, so far 2-0 … but if we’re not winning, it’s not because of Derek Carr and Alvin Kamara. I need y’all to slow your roll on that.”
At the end of the day it’s a 2-0 start, but anyone who knows the Cajun Cannon knows a win in Dallas’ house, and a blowout win at that, just means a bit more.
“It was so memorable this game, I thnk, truly, even though Sean Payton and Drew Brees what they accomplished, considering expectations, this is so satisfying, this ass-whipping of Dallas. They got humbled,” Hebert said. "It’s the most humbling experience, I guarantee you, Jerry Jones has ever had in his life, and the team that beat is Ms. Gayle Benson, the nicest lady in the world. The nicest lady in the world went to Big D, went to Jerry’s world and whipped their behind.”
The Saints have now scored 40 points in back-to-back games to start the season, a feat they’ve accomplished just one other time to start the 2009 season that ended in a Super Bowl. How far can this Dennis Allen-led team and Klint Kubiak-designed offense go? We’ll have to wait and see, but their next chance to make a statement will come back at the Caesars Superdome in Week 3 when they host another NFC power in the Philadelphia Eagles.
