Hebert: Saints get a much-needed win, and they humbled Bill Belichick (again) in the process

There are more accolades on the wall of Bill Belichick than possibly any coach in NFL history, but not many of those have come against the Saints.

In fact, some of his worst moments have come at the hands of the Who Dat Nation. That was true as ever in Week 5, with the Saints showing up in New England and putting a 34-0 whooping on the Patriots.

“You want to talk about a humbling loss, Bill Belichick looks like, boy if I wasn’t trying to get that record I don’t think I’d still be coaching,” the Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert said after the game. “Did he show any emotion or passion on the sideline? He looked so disinterested, like this is the last place I want to be because his team got their ass whipped. The Saints put a whooping on the Patriots that the Patriots have ever seen.”

And it’s not the first time this has happened. Hebert points back to 2009, the moment that he first knew that Saints team was for real as it rolled to a Super Bowl title. That time the humbling moment came in the Superdome and a 38-17 victory. Belichick pulled Brady with about 6 minutes to go.

The legendary coach still sits on 299 wins as he chases George Halas and Don Shula for the all-time record. He didn’t get any help from the Saints in that pursuit. In fact it was the worst home loss in Patriots history.

“You ask Tom Brady who was the hardest team to play against when he was with Tampa Bay,” Hebert continued, “the freakin' Saints. … Between Belichick and Tom Brady, they know who the Saints are. They know who the Who Dat Nation is.”

The next step is for this Saints team to build on their momentum, bouncing back in the best possible way after a pair of difficult losses.

“Now can you build upon this? For instance, no one would’ve thought this before the season. The next team we play in the Houston Texans in Houston, we’re going to have to pack a lunch, I’m telling you right now,” Hebert said. “That game, Houston is way better right now than the Patriots. How the mighty have fallen with Tom Brady.”
