Taysom Hill is expect to make his first career regular season start Sunday when the New Orleans Saints host the Atlanta Falcons, according to a report from ESPN.

The backup quarterback who’s earned a reputation as a jack of all trades for the Saints as he’s played quarterback, tight end and special teams for New Orleans since joining the team in 2017.

Hill has totaled 850 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns on 126 touches in his four seasons with the Saints. He has also completed 10 of 18 passes for 205 yards.

Sunday will be his first extended playing time at quarterback since the 2019 preseason. Hill didn’t start any of the those preseason games but did get the nod for two preseason games in 2018. Prior to that his last start came in 2016 with the BYU Cougars.

Here’s a quick look at Hill’s last three starts at any level:

Rams at Saints - 8-30-18: Hill started the Saints final preseason game of 2018 the day after news broke that New Orleans had traded for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Hill completed 10 of 17 passes for 159 yards and touchdown and also rushed three times for 31 yards in the 28-0 victory against the Los Angeles Rams.

Cardinals at Saints - 8-17-18: Hill led the Saints in rushing in this preseason matchup thanks to a 43 scramble in the second quarter. He, unfortunately, also turned the ball over four times losing two of his three fumbles and having two of his 15 pass attempts intercepted.

Hill did complete 11 passes for 68 yards in the 20-15 loss to the Cardinals.

Utah State at BYU - 11-26-16: Hill left this game in the fourth quarter with an elbow injury that kept him out of BYU’s Poinsettia Bowl win against Wyoming. Before suffering the injury he helped the Cougars build a 21-10 lead against Utah State.

He completed 10 of 21 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown against two interceptions, the second one coming as a result of deflection, and rushed for 46 yards on 12 carries.

That game also saw an impressive performance from future Green Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown.
