Derek Carr was livid when he came off the field of a 20-13 loss to the Texans, he said so himself, noting that he had to go calm himself down.

A video filmed from the stands of NRG Stadium circulating after the game offered evidence that he wasn't joking, with the Saints quarterback gesticulating and shouting in the direction of offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael.

Carr said he apologized to Pete Carmichael on the plane ride home from Houston.

"I was talking to Pete, but I wasn’t talking about Pete," Carr said. "Pete and I know exactly what I was talking about and why."

The Saints quarterback hasn't hidden the fact that he's an emotional player on the field, and the frustration understandably boiled over late in a game that featured frustrating miscommunications and ineffective offense in the red zone. The Saints started five separate drives in the second half of Week 6 with a chance to drive for a game-tying touchdown. They scored zero points on those possessions, despite generating more than 400 yards of offense on the day.

The game ended with four consecutive misses on throws from the 24-yard line, the final of which was intercepted with Carr targeting Michael Thomas.

"When the game is on the line, that’s when you have to be on every detail of your assignment and I was a little upset at some of those things," Carr continued. "It had nothing to do with Pete. He just happened to be the one that walked up when I was a little angry.”
