Jimmy Graham does a bit of everything, but he promises to focus on football during his Saints reunion.
The Saints legend, who re-signed to a 1-year deal this season, is notably a licensed pilot in his free time, and even flew himself down to New Orleans to sign his deal the team, according to a report from Nick Underhill on the Pat McAfee show.
Graham has regularly posted highlights of his aerial adventures with some pretty intense stunt work. The tight end says he was obsessed with Top Gun as a child, and that spurred his fascination with flying. Graham's prowess in the air has been a topic on McAfee's show in the past, and he chimed in again after being brought up this week on the popular program.
"We will postpone the boys at the hangar for some flying shenanigans till after this run," Graham posted. "Good to be back home with this dangerously talented team. Can’t wait to see you boys on Sundays."
The 36-year-old participated in a workout with the Saints and signed his deal a day before the start of training camp. He was on the field a day later and participating fully, though he's gotten a pair of veteran rest days over the first week.
The next question will be how much he has left in the tank, but the Saints and Graham have indicated there's a role for him to fulfill, whatever it may be. He's flashed his trademark athleticism a few times early in camp, and his 6-7 frame profiles as a potential weapon for Derek Carr in the red zone.
The Saints are back to practice on Friday at the team facility in Metairie, with Graham expected to participate.
