The New Orleans Saints were scheduled for back-to-back weeks of joint practices, but that plan was called off early.

The Saints announced Sunday evening that they and the Texans had "mutually" agreed to call off the joint practices initially scheduled for New Orleans this week ahead of a Week 3 preseason showdown.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen said the decision was reached earlier in the day after a call from Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans. Houston suffered a slew of injuries this week, Allen said, and the concern was that the practices would not be productive under the circumstances.

"Sometimes those things happen," Allen said, "and we were both in agreement with that. We'll work on our own and we have a lot to focus on, a lot of improvements to make.”

The Saints had just finished a set of joint practices with the Chargers ahead of Sunday's game, which the Saints won 22-17. The Saints and Texans will be revising their practice schedule, which will be announced at a later date.
