The salary cap crunch continues for the Saints as ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports that the team plans to release defensive tackle Malcolm Brown.
New Orleans was trying to find a trade partner for him, but had no takers. Cutting Brown will save the team nearly $5M in cap space.
The stout run defender helped the Saints in allowing the fourth-fewest rushing yards in the NFL last season. Brown finished with 27 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 pass defended, 1 fumble recovery, 2 hits on the QB, and 1 sack in 2020.
The 27-year-old previously spent four seasons with the New England Patriots, who drafted him in the first round in 2015 draft out of Texas.
