Cam Jordan didn't want to take a week off, but when he returned to the field following a stint on the COVID list his impact was impossible to miss.

The Saints ironman was in Tom Brady's face all night during a shutout victory against the Bucs, logging two sacks and forcing a fumble that was recovered by Marshon Lattimore.

The sacks sent him over the 100 mark for his career, and the effort garnered him the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award, announced Wednesday morning.

Jordan is the third Saints player to land a weekly or monthly accolade this season, joining Marshon Lattimore who won the award after a Week 5 win over Washington, and Blake Gillikin who was named the Special Teams Player of the Month for October. Jordan is also the Saints' nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.

The results could lessen slightly the sting of Jordan losing his title as the NFL's top ironman. He had never missed a game in his 11-year career, and had the longest active streak of starts at 156. His consecutive games streak of 172 was second only to Packers kicker Mason Crosby among active players.

The Saints have an extra day to recover and prep for another critical matchup against the Miami Dolphins at the Caesars Superdome on Monday Night Football in Week 16.
