The New Orleans Saints walked away with a win, but potential depth concerns at running back could be the bigger story.

Saints rookie Kendre Miller has been healthy throughout training camp after rehabbing a knee injury suffered at TCU, and it was a knee injury again that forced him to leave the game early in the third quarter and head into the blue injury tent.

Miller did not return and was replaced by UDFA Ellis Merriweather, who ultimately played the hero with a touchdown reception late in the game to set up the Saints' dramatic win in the final moments.

"I thought he got in there and ran the ball really well. I thought he ran the ball really physically," Allen said.

Miller finished the game with five yards on four carries. His injury was to the same knee he hurt at TCU. He'll undergo imaging tests to ascertain the severity of the injury, Allen said. His availability will be something to watch, considering the team is going to be without Alvin Kamara for three weeks as he serves a suspension. They have a security blanket in veteran Jamaal Williams, but few proven options past that point. Williams was the leading rusher with 28 yards on his nine carries. Kamara played the opening series before taking the rest of the day off, rushing for 16 yards on two carries, and catching two passes for 21 yards on an impressive opening drive for a touchdown.

The Saints will have a busy week ahead as they ship out west for a pair of joint practices against the L.A. Chargers prior to their showdown in Week 2 of the preseason.
