Some injuries just hit a bit harder, and that's why Marshon Lattimore's absence from the second half of the Saints-Chargers joint practice on Friday was in immediate eye-catcher.

Lattimore began practice normally, but during a rep in 7-on-7s there was a knee issue that developed. He was then spotted wearing a hefty wrap on his left knee as he looked on from the sidelines the rest of the way.

“I don’t expect it to be anything, we held him out for precautionary measures," head coach Dennis Allen said. "Obviously we’ll go in and evaluate it and see where he’s at. But it didn’t seem like it was significant on the field, so hopefully that’ll be the case.”

The injury occurred as Lattimore went to plant and "felt a little something," but it's not expected to be anything significant. That said, it could be several days before there's any real update on his status, as he was already one of the players on the shortlist for a day off as the Saints take on Week 2 of the preseason.

Allen wouldn't detail his exact plans for snaps, but the two days of intense reps under their belts in joint practices was going to play into that decision. That was a discussion expected be had by coaches on Friday, along with a call between the two teams, SoFi Stadium and the NFL regarding possible contingencies with Hurricane Hilary looming off the coast.

"All of that factors in," Allen said.
