The Saints had to cut down two players to get to the 80-man roster threshold, and they came from the offensive side of the ball.

Recently signed TE Chris Herndon has been cut, while veteran WR Kevin White has been sent to injured reserve, a source tells WWL Radio's Kristian Garic. The Saints also reached an injury settlement with OL Sage Doxtater and DT Jaleel Johnson, both of whom were sent to injured reserve earlier this month.

White is the lone player among the four who was with the Saints for more than this offseason, having been signed prior to the 2021 season and seeing action in several games. He caught just one pass for 38 yards.

Earlier this week the team waived running back Devine Ozigbo, who was claimed by the Denver Broncos, as well as defensive back Jordan Miller.

The moves came ahead of the deadline at 3 p.m. Tuesday to trim from 85 down to 80 players on the roster. The next cutdown date is the big one, with each NFL team required to trim down to its final 53 by 3 p.m., Aug. 30.

In the meantime there will be one final preseason game, at the Caesars Superdome vs the Chargers, for players to make their final case for a spot on the main roster or the practice squad. That game kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday.

Unless the Saints sign another player, we now know the 80 names and faces we can expect in action for that one.
