Saints set to get trio of key players back from IR in Week 7 vs Seahawks

The New Orleans Saints are getting some reinforcements in Week 7.

Three key players are set to make their return after a stint on injured reserve.

Those players are linebacker Kwon Alexander, defensive end Marcus Davenport and wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith.

INACTIVES
QB Taysom Hill
KR/WR Deonte Harris
RB Dwayne Washington
DE Payton Turner
QB Ian Book
DT Malcolm Roach
DE Jalyn Holmes

Both Alexander and Davenport played in the Week 1 victory over the Packers before going on the shelf with their injuries. Their respective returns will buoy two groups along the defense that had been leaning on rookies to step up in their absence. One of those rookies is first-round pick Payton Turner, who will miss the game due to a calf injury.

Smith is the true wild card, being out of action since midway through training camp with a nagging leg injury. But his presence could be the most important, considering QB Taysom Hill and KR/WR Deonte Harris are both inactive due to injuries suffered in Week 5, along with running back Dwayne Washington. Wide receiver Kevin White has also been called up from the practice squad and will be active for the game.

Several players that have gotten back to practice from IR are still not ready to play, including TE Nick Vannett, K Wil Lutz, CB Ken Crawley and LB Chase Hansen.

The Saints are also expecting the returns of center Erik McCoy and OT Terron Armstead, both of whom got in limited practices all week and didn't have a gameday designation, indicating they are expected to be active. McCoy's return will mean Cesar Ruiz can shift back to guard, while James Hurst can return to a reserve role.
