The New Orleans Saints have brought in depth after a handful of injuries, and it's a familiar name in former LSU standout Jontre Kirklin.

The Saints agreed to the deal with the former Tigers wide receiver after a workout on Saturday, news first reported by Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.football. It's unclear what Kirklin's role will be with the Saints, but it's likely he'll factor in on special teams. The Lutcher native took to Instagram to celebrate the news.

Kirklin will be wearing No. 85.

The Saints also worked out RB Amare Jones and another former LSU receiver in Derrick Dillon, according to a report from KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.

Kirklin went undrafted out of LSU and spent last season with the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL. He logged 225 yards and 4 touchdowns, but suffered a season-ending injury. Kirklin was not invited to the combine, but flashed impressive measurables with a 4.52 40-yard dash, 11'5" broad jump and a 43-inch vertical leap.

Kirklin appeared in 57 games over five seasons for LSU, catching just 20 passes for 313 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also appeared at quarterback for LSU in a bowl game loss to Kansas State after a slew of transfers following the firing of head coach Ed Orgeron.

The Saints have roster spots to fill due to a trio of season-ending injuries (G Trai Turner, LB Andrew Dowell, RB Eno Benjamin). Kirklin becomes the latest in a quickly growing LSU contingent on the Saints roster, including Tyrann Mathieu and Foster Moreau.
