The New Orleans Saints aren't done adding names to the roster after all.

The team has agreed to a one-year deal with free agent James Washington, according to a report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Washington was a second-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2018, where he played for the first four seasons of his career. His best year came in 2019 when he caught 44 passes for 735 yards and three touchdowns. He signed with the Cowboys in 2022 but suffered an injury in training camp that kept him off the field for the majority of the season. He ultimately appeared in two games but did not catch a pass.

“Obviously he was injured last year," Saints head coach Dennis Allen said of Washington this week, "but there were some things that we saw previously to that in terms of just speed down the field, kind of a guy that can get vertical into the defense. So, obviously, he’s a guy that we’re certainly interested in potentially adding.”

He'll now join a rebuilt WR room that brings back Michael Thomas, Tre'Quan Smith, Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave Kawaan Baker, Kirk Merritt, along with a newly signed free agents in Bryan Edwards. The Saints also drafted A.T. Perry out of Wake Forest in the 6th round, and signed Malik Flowers, Shaquan Davis and Sy Barnett as UDFAs.

The Saints will be back in action later this month for the first set of three OTAs, followed by a mandatory minicamp in June and the full training camp in late July.
