Taysom Hill was the most dominant offensive player in the NFC last week, and he's got the hardware to prove it.
The Saints' do-it-all tight end was named the NFC's offensive player of the week after his performance in the Week 11 win over the Browns. Taysom hit on all fronts, running the ball 7 times for a career-high 138 yards and 3 TDs, catching 8 passes for another 50 yards and completing a pass for another 18 yards. For good measure he even had a 42-yard kickoff return, lost a fumble and threw an interception. Hill's final touch went for a career-high 75-yard score to ice the game.
"Running out of things to say about Taysom and they’re all positive," interim head coach Darren Rizzi said this week on WWL. "People talk about, you know, what position is this guy, what is he … and really he’s just a really, really outstanding football player."
For perspective, Hill's performance marked the first time any player logged three rushing touchdowns, 50 receiving yards and one pass completion in a game since former Kansas City Chiefs running back Ed Podolak in 1971.
The other NFC players of the week were Rams DB Kamren Kinchens on defense and Packers DL Karl Brooks on special teams. On the AFC side it was Broncos QB Bo Nix on offense, Bills LB Terrel Bernard on defense and Steelers kicker Chris Boswell on special teams.
The award marks the third time in his career he's won a conference weekly award, along with another offensive award after a dominating performance in a Week 5 win over the Seahawks in 2022, and a special teams award during the 2018 season.
Hill and the Saints get a well-earned bye in Week 12 before returning to host the Rams in Week 13.
