Another piece of the rebuilt Saints offensive staff appears to be set.

New Orleans is expected to hire Derrick Foster as their new running backs coach, according to a report from 247Sports.

Foster spent the past three seasons as the running backs coach for the L.A. Chargers, helping to lead Austin Ekeler to career marks, including leading the NFL in total touchdowns in each of 2021 and 2022. He'll now be tasked with leading a group headlined by Alvin Kamara, and also featuring Jamaal Williams and Kendre Miller, who flashed at points but spent a bulk of his rookie season down with injuries.

Foster, who has familiarity with Louisiana during his time as a coach for Northwestern State, is the latest name pinned onto the quickly building staff for former 49ers assistant Klint Kubiak, who will be taking over the role long held by Pete Carmichael. The Saints moved on from their OC and seven other members of the offensive staff in a major shakeup. One of those departures was former RBs coach Joel Thomas, who left town for the same job with the Giants.

The Saints have also said farewell to QB coach Ronald Curry, OL coach Doug Marrone, WR coach Kodi Burns and multiple assistants. Two of those assistants are headed to NFC South rivals, with DJ Williams taking over as the QB coach in Atlanta and Kevin Carberry the OL coach with the Bucs.

None of the hires have yet been officially announced by the Saints as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, but two other names have already been reported as hires in Andrew Janocko as QBs coach and John Benton as OL coach.

The Saints will also be interviewing Ravens assistant Keith Williams for the WR coach vacancy, according to a report from NewOrleans.football. Williams has been with Baltimore since 2021, but has familiarity with New Orleans, having previously spent three years as the WRs coach for Tulane from 2012-'14.
