The New Orleans Saints' offensive staff is getting yet another shakeup.

The team is parting ways with offensive line coach Doug Marrone, according to reports, marking a fourth firing and fifth staffing change since the end of the season.

Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, WRs coach Kodi Burns and offensive assistant Bob Bicknell were fired shortly after the end of the 2023 season, while RBs coach Joel Thomas departed for a job with the Giants.

The Saints are expected to hire 49ers pass game specialist Klint Kubiak for their OC role, though that hiring can't be finalized until after the Super Bowl. It's unlikely that the Saints make any significant moves to fill other staff positions until the new OC is solidified.

Marrone's hold on his job felt loose at best following a second year in the role, but one that saw inconsistency from the OL group and the benching of 2022 first-round pick Trevor Penning after he began the year as the starting left tackle. Penning was active in all 17 games, but did not see action in the regular offense even in situations where multiple backups took the field.

It's the latest move signaling a new look on offense in a lot of ways, but it will still be one led by veteran QB Derek Carr, who is expected to have his contract restructured which will effectively and financially tie the team and the QB together through at least 2025. There is some reason for optimism, considering the offense's improvement late in the year and the continued growth of young playmakers in Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, A.T. Perry and Kendre Miller. The Saints won four of their final five games to finish 9-8, but missed out on the postseason due to tiebreakers for the second time in the past three seasons.
