The New Orleans Saints want backup quarterback Jameis Winston to return to the team next season, according to a report from the NFL network’s Ian Rapoport.
Winston signed a one-year deal with the franchise this past offseason and is set to become a free agent. Per the report, the Saints have liked what they’ve seen from Winston in practice.
Winston has appeared in four games this season and completed seven passes for 75 yards.
No official announcement has been but there have been several reports that Saints quarterback Drew Brees intends to retire after the season which would leave New Orleans with only Taysom Hill at quarterback.
