Watch: Sean Payton teases perfect moment for Drew Brees' Saints Hall of Fame induction

The New Orleans Saints haven't set an official date for Drew Brees' actual induction into the team Hall of Fame, but there's one that certainly stands out.

With the team announcing Brees as the 2024 inductee on Thursday, former Saints coach Sean Payton took a moment to explain the process to Broncos' reporters. As he explained, noting that he wasn't sure when the official induction would take place, a reporter chimed in to suggest Week 7.

"Maybe," Payton said with a grin, before walking off.

Week 7, of course, will be when the Saints and Broncos meet in a Thursday Night Football showdown that doubles as Payton's return to the Superdome for the first time with his new team.

Brees and Payton were paid for all 15 of the QB's Hall of Fame seasons in New Orleans. Brees retired following the 2020 season and said this week that if not for his right shoulder giving out on him, he'd "probably have played for three more years." Payton coached one more season in 2021 before stepping away in the 2022 season, then returning last year to coach the Broncos.

What better time could there be for Brees' induction than when Sean is in town? We can't think of one, either.
