
Sean Payton officially named Trevor Siemian the Saints starting quarterback for week 9’s NFC South match-up against Atlanta. He closed out the win against the Buccaneers on Halloween after Jameis Winston went down in the 2nd quarter with a torn ACL.
Siemian was a 2015 seventh-round pick of the Denver Broncos and has played in 28 games, has made 25 starts and has completed 59% of his passes for 5848 yards, 31 TDs vs. 24 INTs. He played is calm, cool, and collected last week against Tampa going 16-of-29 passing for 159 yards and 1 TD.
Taysom Hill is fully back from concussion and will have a role in the offense. Also, for added QB depth, rookie Ian Book will be active on gameday for the first time.
The team has ruled out WR Ty Montgomery (hamstring), DE Carl Granderson (shoulder) and Jameis Winston. The QB has not been placed on injured reserve yet.
S Malcolm Jenkins (knee) and DE Payton Turner (calf) are listed as questionable.
The Atlanta Falcons have ruled out DT Jonathan Bullard (concussion) and Calvin Ridley. The WR has been put on the Reserve/NFI list. He will miss 3 weeks minimum.
