The New Orleans Saints and Pelicans are among those mourning losses this week after a terrorist attack on Bourbon Street that left 14 people dead and dozens more injured.

Among the victims was Matthew Tenedorio, a 25-year-old from Slidell who worked for ASM New Orleans as a video staffer. ASM is the company that manages the Caesars Superdome and Smoothie King Center.

The New Orleans Saints and Pelicans issued a statement on Thursday addressing Tenedorio's passing:

“We remain heartbroken by the tragic events that claimed innocent lives in our city yesterday morning. Among those lost was Matthew Tenedorio, a valued member of the ASM New Orleans video production team. Matthew was young, talented, and had a bright future, helping deliver quality content for both the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans.

"Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the Tenedorio family and everyone affected by this senseless act of terrorism. Together, as a city, state, and region, we will come back stronger from this tragedy.”

Tenedorio was among those killed when a man identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar mounted the sidewalk and sped down Bourbon Street just after 3 a.m. on New Year's Day. The incident has been classified as a terrorist attack and an investigation by the FBI is ongoing.
