Bourbon Street is once again open to pedestrian traffic.
New Orleans city officials reopened the street around 2 p.m. on Thursday, about 35 hours after a terror attack there left 14 people dead and 35 others in the hospital. The suspect in that case, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, was shot and killed by police in a shootout after Jabbar allegedly opened fire on responding officers.
New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick says her officers reopened the street after they placed heavy trucks and archers to block vehicles from access both the roads and the sidewalks along Bourbon Street.
