Conservative firebrand Candace Owens drew quite a crowd for a speaking engagement on the campus of Louisiana State University Tuesday.

Owens appeared in the LSU Student Union Theater as part of Turning Point USA’s “Live Free Tour,” and told the gathered crowd that she appreciated their attendance whether they agree with her or not.

In fact, Owens offered a hearty welcome to those who might be opposed to her ideologies.

“Raise your hand,” she asked of anyone with opposing viewpoints. “This is awesome, give these people a round of applause. You’re allowed to do that, you’re allowed to show up and hear the opinion of someone you disagree with, and almost always walk out smarter than that. Because you’ll actually know what that person thinks, and not what the media is telling you that they think.”

Owens spent her time on stage offering her opinions on a number of issues, including airing her opposition to climate change.

“And so you look at today, and you think that they probably got tired of making up catastrophes,” Owens said, according to WAFB. “And they said, ‘Let’s just call it climate change.’ That way, whether it’s cold, hot, rainy, snowy or totally normal, we can say you’re all going to die.”

Owens also railed against public education, according to The Advocate.

“I didn’t come from a very political family, but I believed in all the things I learned in school,” Owens said. “This is the power of the public education system and why I am fully against it and think the Department of Education needs to be abolished and burned to the ground.”

And she took the opportunity to state her opposition to trans people, saying it is “a cruel, awful, terrible and irreversible lie that they can choose their gender.”

She eventually tied her various threads together by alleging progressive viewpoints are part of a coordinated, malicious attack on the American family unit.

“There is a reason, there is one thing that connects all of these topics,” she said. “There is one thing that they are attacking at the exact same time with all of these various narratives, and the answer is family. That is the thing.”
