New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell today said she's looking forward to getting Mardi Gras krewes back on their pre-pandemic parade routes.
"Mardi Gras 2023: Krewes will return to their traditional routes in the city of New Orleans," Cantrell said at a Wednesday morning news conference. "We're excited about that."
The mayor said there would be a bigger announcement on that, coming in the future, but based on what she said is a "robust strategy" and help from officers and deputies from neighborhood parishes, all parades will be back where they were in 2020.
Cantrell said the only parade route adjustment would be to Endymion, and that is only near the end of the route -- instead of parading into the Superdome, Endymion will hold its Extravaganza in the Morial Convention Center. The Superdome is undergoing its next phase of renovations.
