
There were four carjackings in New Orleans from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning.
The latest happened early today outside the Orleans Parish Prison.
Shortly before 6:30am a 35-year-old woman was in the 900 block of South Dupre Street.
"Two unknown males... arrived in SUV. One suspect produced gun and demanded victim’s vehicle. Victim complied. Suspects fled in both vehicles," according to an initial NOPD report.
Just hours earlier a 48-year-old woman was carjacked in Central City. Her attackers crashed her car.
It happened just after 2:00am in the 1500 block Simon Bolivar Ave.
"One suspect pointed handgun at victim and demanded victim’s property. Victim complied. Suspects attempted to flee in vehicle and wrecked. Suspects abandoned vehicle and fled on foot."
There was another carjacking in New Orleans East Thursday night.
A 36-year-old man was the victim.
"Victim exited location and found suspect inside victim’s vehicle. Suspect pointed large firearm at victim, demanding victim car keys. Victim complied. Suspect fled in victim's 2018 black Mercedes."
That was in the 6600 block Chef Menteur Hwy.
There was also a lunchtime carjacking off Tulane Avenue.
Just after noon a 34-year-old woman was arriving home in the 600 block South Genois St.
"Perpetrators entered her gate demanding her keys. Victim refused. One suspect then produced handgun and struck victim in head with handgun. Suspects fled in victim’s vehicle."
