Today is Michelle Woodfork's last day as interim chief of the New Orleans Police Department. Woodfork (above) has led the NOPD for the last nine months.
Tomorrow, NOPD superintendent-nominee Anne Kirkpatrick (below) becomes interim chief as she awaits the city council confirmation process.

"We will take up that confirmation for the permanent chief position on the 11th" of October, said New Orleans City Council President J.P. Morrell.
The first half of the hearing will include a presentation from Kirkpatrick and questions from members of the New Orleans City Council Governmental Affairs Committee. Morrell says the public will get a chance to say their piece, too.
"That's why confirmation exists," said Morrell. "There is going to be a significant amount of time in the afternoon that is purely for community input."
The committee has scheduled the entire afternoon for public comment.
If the panel sends the nomination ahead to the full council, a confirmation vote on Kirkpatrick will be held at the October 19 New Orleans City Council meeting.
