The president and vice-president of the New Orleans City Council are urging the chairman of the Orleans Parish Communications District board to release the report from an internal investigation into the district's embattled director, Tyrell Morris.
Morris was involved in an auto crash with his taxpayer-owned vehicle in May. No police report was filed, and an investigation by WWL-TV indicated Morris may have altered public records after-the-fact to make it appear as if a police report was not needed.
"We continue to stress the importance of taking this matter seriously," Council President J.P. Morrell and Council Vice-President Helena Moreno write in their letter to OPCD Board Chairman John Thomas. "If your own internal investigation corroborates allegations of a public document being altered, we believe the Board will have no choice but to take the necessary action of suspension."
Both Morrell and Moreno previously called on the OPCD board to suspend Morris. Those pleas went unanswered.
