A federal judge has set July 18 to start the tax fraud trial of New Orleans District Attorney Jason Williams and his business partner.
Williams faces nearly a dozen counts of tax-related charges. He and co-defendant Nicole Burdette maintain their innocence. Williams said if there is any fraud, it was the work of their tax preparer and not authorized by them.
A recent appeals court ruling cleared the way for Judge Lance Africk to set a trial date.
Africk was assigned the case after the judge originally assigned to it, Martin Feldman, died earlier this year.
