Prosecutors in the sex abuse trial of former St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain rested their case today. Strain's legal team declined to call any witnesses or present evidence.
Jurors will hear closing arguments Monday, after hearing days of testimony from prosecution witnesses, including five men who accused Strain of sexually abusing them when they were children.
Strain's defense rests entirely on lawyers' cross-examination of witnesses, trying to poke holes in testimony or suggest that his accuser are lying or have been manipulated into lying.
The allegations range from the 1970s, when Strain was a teenager, all the way to when he was serving as St. Tammany Parish Sheriff.
