A Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies fatally shoot a man they say who refused to exit his vehicle according to the sheriff’s office.
An initial JPSO report says at around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, deputies responded to a complaint in the 500 block of Wilson Street in Marrero.
When they arrived they encountered a man sitting inside his parked vehicle.
The sheriff’s office says deputies talked with the man for several minutes, trying to get him to come out of his car.
They say the man refused their commands to exit the vehicle and then, the man started his vehicle. They say some deputies were in the path of the vehicle when he started the engine.
That is when the deputies fired their service weapons into the vehicle, hitting the man inside several times.
Security video obtained by WWLTV shows officers surrounding the vehicle.
This is a developing story and few details are available at this time. The unidentified man was pronounced dead on the scene.
