Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill is warning New Orleans it may have improperly issued fines via its school zone speeding cameras.
In a letter the Attorney General posted to social media, Murrill says a law passed last year prevents municipalities from collecting such fines until an agreement is in place on how to split that money with local schools.
The city of New Orleans has yet to finalize that agreement.
According to the city, they are still working on a cooperative endeavor agreement on how that money will be shared.
The city said it has deactivated all cameras in accordance with a state law passed this year that bans automated speed zone enforcement except for in school zones.
