As spring break rapidly approaches across the country and temperatures start to warm, it seems everyone is just itching to get near the beach.

And when we say everyone, that apparently includes at least one gigantic shark.

Breton is a great white shark that measures just over 13 feet long and weighs 1,450 pounds, and a nonprofit organization reports he’s been tracked to the Outer Banks, an area just off the coast of North Carolina.

OCEARCH researchers first measured and tagged Breton back in September 2020, then released him. They’ve been tracking his movements ever since.

Now they warn Breton and multiple juvenile sharks are present just off the Outer Banks, a region that they say is a fertile staging area for all sorts of species making their way back north for the summer months.

OCEARCH said it will have a team in the North Carolina area to keep an eye on the sharks, but if you’re headed there for a relaxing week off soon, perhaps stick to dry land.
