While Entergy announced it will not be disconnecting people’s electricity during these dangerously hot months, the President of Entergy New Orleans, Deanna Rodriguez, says that doesn’t mean customers do not have to pay their bills.
There are a number of things that the company will work with each customer to do,” Rodriguez told WWL’s Newell Normand.
Entergy customers have been dealing with alarmingly high electric bills spurred on by the rising cost of recovery from past hurricanes like Hurricane Ida.
Rodriguez says customers should call Entergy if they cannot pay their bill.
“So we can either connect them to their community organization, we can figure out how to guide them to get help,” said Rodriguez.
She also tells Newell another option for customers facing high utility bills is to spread those sky-high bills out over a longer period of time.
She urges customers should continue to pay their bills despite not having the risk of shut off because come November when shut off orders resume, some customers could be faced with even larger bills to pay.
