I can’t recall exactly when I first saw local TV commercials for InclusivCare, but I remembered the slogan in the commercial: healthcare for all.
Before anyone starts making references to Obamacare, this story is not examining the politics around healthcare, but rather the practical workings of a healthcare provider that states it will deliver high quality healthcare at a low cost to the patient.
InclusivCare, a nonprofit healthcare provider, operates four healthcare clinics in Jefferson Parish: one in Marrero, one in Kenner, another in Avondale and one in Lafitte. InclusivCare is committed to providing healthcare to individuals who may be low-income, uninsured or underinsured. On its website, InclusivCare states: “No insurance, no problem”.
“We provide them with payment plans in which they can pay us what they can when they can,” said Dr. Shondra Williams, President and CEO of InclusivCare.
That notion of a patient paying what they can, when they can, was part of the messaging in those TV commercials I mentioned earlier.
When I heard that message, I thought that it sounded too good to be true. I also asked myself, how does that work? How can you get healthcare when you don’t have any insurance or money for that matter? I visited Dr. Williams at InclusivCare to find out. Listen to our conversation in the podcast here.
