A 22-year-old woman was booked with first-degree rape and indecent behavior with a juvenile after accusations of forcing a 12-year-old student to perform oral sex on her, according to a report in The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate.
Sophia Canales worked at Stella Worley Middle School in Westwego. The report states she was arrested at her home in Kenner after the boy spoke with Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office investigators.
An attorney for the child's family told The Advocate that Canales groomed the boy with gifts of food an Playstation games.
The attorney says the relationship was discovered when an adult overheard the minor talking with a friend about the alleged sexual assault.
