
The New Orleans Police Department says a three-year-old girl was shot and killed in the 400 block of Burgundy St. in the French Quarter, between Conti and St. Louis, Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, "a juvenile sustained a gunshot wound to her body." She was pronounced dead after paramedics took her to the hospital.
An 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old male were detained for questioning related to the incident. The 17-year-old was subsequently released.
Investigators are in the process of gathering information that will help them identify a person or persons responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is available at this time.
