Hispanics don't care about the term 'illegal immigrants,' they just care about being safe: Newell

As Donald Trump and Joe Biden battle to win more Hispanic votes than the other does, a new poll shows something interesting.

A Harvard-Harris poll found that 63% of Hispanics agree it's OK to refer to people who enter the country illegally as 'illegal immigrants.'

Biden said 'illegal immigrant' during his State of the Union address and ended up apologizing for using the term when referring to the man who allegedly murdered student Laken Riley.

But "it doesn't seem to offend much of anyone," WWL's Newell Normand said, adding, "They don't care about this political correctness crap. They want less crime. They want to be safe. They want to live and work and raise their family in a safe community. They want to work hard."

The same poll found that 63% of voters have heard of the story of murdered Georgia nursing student Laken Riley and 70% believe the case shows that the U.S. needs stricter immigration policies.

While the Democrats are apologizing for woke terminology, Republican Congesswoman Monica De La Cruz wrote in Newsweek about why she believes Trump is surging with Latino voters.

"Our communities have grown increasingly frustrated with the escalating border crisis. It makes sense: Hispanics know the immigration system as well as anyone. We witness 10 million people breaking our immigration laws and cutting ahead of our relatives and friends who have waited years to come here legally. We're not strangers to the havoc wrought by fentanyl in towns and cities nationwide. We understand the economic pitfalls of porous borders and we're well-acquainted with the burden illegal immigration places on local infrastructures. And let's be clear: None of this is okay with us," De La Cruz wrote.
