Innocent bystander hit by bullet at Bourbon and Canal

A man was shot early Friday morning on the edge of the French Quarter.

He tells police he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Victim walking from Bourbon Street turned on Canal Street and observed group of subjects arguing. Several shots rang out and victim struck to leg," according to an initial police report.

The 43-year-old victim was hospitalized.

It happened at just after 1:00am.
