Jefferson Parish Public Schools suspended a Grand Isle student after a BB gun appeared in a video learning session earlier in the school year, the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reports.

Tomie Brown, an 11-year-old sixth grader at Grand Isle School, received the three day suspension for the September 9 incident, and that was after a disciplinary hearing following the principal's recommendation that the child be expelled.

Nine-year-old Ka'Mauri Harrison received a six-day suspension for a similar incident that happened September 11. That case set off a storm of controversy that included criticism from the American Civil Liberties Union and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry. It also prompted legislation currently making its way through the Louisiana Legislature's current special session that deals with rules concerning virtual classrooms.
