Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office homicide detectives are investigating a couple fatal shootings Saturday that left one man and one woman dead.
Sheriff's office spokesman Glen Boyd says a man arrived at a local hospital this evening with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Around 5:05 in the evening, deputies received a call of a shooting in the 2000-block of Mather Street in Marrero. Detectives are investigating if that report is related to the homicide.
This morning, deputies responded to a call of a shooting in the 1100-block of Gaudet Drive in Marrero. Shortly before 9:00 a.m., the sheriff's office received word that someone inside a home had been shot.
"Shortly after, a Second District deputy discovered a female inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound," said Boyd. "The woman was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries."
Boyd says anyone who has information on either homicide should call the JPSO Homicide Section at (504) 364-5300, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP). Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
