After a long battle with kidney disease, Lafayette rapper Paul Brown, who recorded under the name Bunny B, has died at the age of 50.

Brown had revealed his condition on Facebook earlier this month and made it known he had entered hospice care, and that doctors did not believe it would be long before he passed.

In the video, Brown said he was “at peace.”

Brown was a founding member of the Lafayette hip-hop collective Da Entourage, and in 2003, released the regional hit “Bunny Hop.”

That song also went on to inform the national hit “Cupid Shuffle,” which remains a popular line dance at gatherings.

The man behind “Cupid Shuffle,” Bryson Bernard (a.k.a. Cupid), paid tribute to Brown in a Facebook post.
