A woman was critically injured as her car was stolen while she filled it with gas at the Costco gas station on S. Carrollton Ave., and a witness to the crime said she couldn't believe what she saw.
"It was awful, it was absolutely awful," the witness told WWL's Scoot on the Air. "I thought the woman was dead."

According to police, as the victim pumped gas shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, the thief hopped into her driver's seat and began to pull away. The woman held on to her car, and her head hit the pavement violently as the thief made off with her SUV.
"I turned around, there was a woman lying on the street, blood coming out of her mouth and her nose," the witness, who identified herself as "Susan," told WWL.
"I ran over (to the victim), screaming, and what really disappointed me was how New Orleanians reacted: it was just myself and another woman, we were both screaming, trying to help her, and everyone else was sitting in their cars," she said.
The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reports the victim was hospitalized in critical condition, with head injuries caused by the incident.
