A Louisiana nurse practitioner has been arrested after allegedly raping a patient that was under his care.
Brennan C. Bergeron, 29, of Iowa, La., has been accused of raping a person who visited a health care facility where he was employed, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

CPSO spokesperson Kayla Vincent told KLFY that their office received the complaint on October 13 and that evidence was uncovered to back up the allegation. They took Bergeron into custody on October 19.
Bergeron’s attorney Adam Johnson said his client is innocent.
“In the world we live in today, you can absolutely destroy someone’s life with an accusation,” Johnson said. “That is why those that investigate these allegations need wisdom and discernment and they need to be really good at their job. Unfortunately, we just don’t see enough of that.”
Bergeron has been charged with third-degree rape. He was released on $650,000 bond.
