LSU running back Trey Holly is facing an attempted murder charge.

According to Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates, Holly surrendered to Union Parish authorities Thursday in connection with a shooting at an apartment complex that left two people injured. He was booked on attempted second-degree murder charge.

"Mr. Holly was arrested this morning around noon after turning himself in with his attorney," Sheriff Dusty Gates said. "He's also charged with , aggravated criminal damage to property and also illegal use of a weapon charges with a $512,000 bond."

Gates says Holly remains in jail as of Thursday afternoon. Two other suspects, Jordan Jones, 18, and a 17-year-old male are also in custody in connection with the shooting. Both are facing the same charges as Holly.

According to Gates, the shooting happened last week.

"This was an incident which occurred on Friday, February 9 at an apartment complex in Farmerville," Gates said. "It stemmed from an ongoing dispute between a group of individuals which spilled over from one complex to another on at Union Villa Apartments. At that point, there was another large argument, and gunshots were fired. Two victims were struck. One victim was in very serious condition and transported to Shreveport. The other victim was transported to a local hospital in Monroe. There were three shooters identified, one of them being Mr. Holly."

Gates says investigators will take their time to make sure they properly handle the case. However, Gates says he hopes the investigation will be completed soon. Gates added that more arrests are possible.

LSU team officials say Holly has been suspended indefinitely from the team. In a statement, university officials said they were aware of Holly's arrest and the investigation into the shooting.

"Out of respect for the judicial process, we will have no further comment," the statement said.

Holly is a native of Farmerville and was a standout football player at Union Parish High School. During his prep career, Holly led Union Parish to three straight state title games and set the LHSAA’s all-time rushing record, tallying 10,523 yards.

In his freshman season at LSU, Holly carried the ball 11 times for 110 yards, but was expected to play a much bigger role in the 2024 season.
