A 21-year-old LSU student was found dead Friday morning, shot to death inside a car abandoned on Government Street in Baton Rouge.
The body of Allison Rice was discovered around 2:15 am, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The area where her body was recovered is a popular nightlife district, but bars must close at 2am, so she was found shortly after “last call.”
Rice was a native of Geismar and a senior marketing major at the university, which issued a statement in the wake of her death.
“The LSU community is sadden(ed) to hear of senior Allison Rice being killed overnight. Her family and friends are in our thoughts, and we encourage anyone who may have more information about this crime to contact Baton Rouge Police,” the statement read.
The university is also offering grief counseling for any of Rice’s friends or classmates who need help coping with the loss. They can contact the Mental Health Service in the Student Health Center at 225-578-8774.
As for the motive behind Rice’s slaying, BRPD is still gathering evidence in their investigation and urge anyone with information to call Greater Baton Rouge Crimestoppers at 225-344-STOP.
