New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in the 1500 block of Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way, off Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Police say shortly after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to investigate a call of a man shot in that location.
"The victim in this incident has been pronounced deceased at a local hospital," said police.
Earlier Wednesday, New Orleans City Council crime consultant Jeff Asher said the city had experienced 18 homicides so far in 2023. This would make 19 homicides in 18 days.
